ALOE RIDGE GARDEN.
Aloe Ridge is an indigenous garden, set in the Northriding Agricultural Holdings Valley just below the Northgate Dome. There are over 300 planted South African indigenous tree species growing amongst the original Ancient African Olives, Mountain Karee, Bushman’s poison, Common Hook thorn, Red leaf Fig and Rock Elder clusters located in the area. As most of the trees and shrubs are not labelled, it is advisable to bring a tree spotting book such as Sappi tree spotting for the Highveld. With all the different trees and plant species, there are a number of different bird species about, making it a bird watchers paradise.
This garden has not been open to view in the last few years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. So many people begged to see the garden when it is at its most spectacular so the owner very kindly agreed to open it again in June when 600 aloes will be at various stages of flowering. The owner has made very interesting changes to the garden as well.
