Random Harvest Garden, Plot 57, Nooitgedacht, College Road, Muldersdrift(S26 01.796 E27 53.649)
Random Harvest’s garden features a variety of carefully created habitats for wildlife. Birds (169 species on their list), many pollinating insects and other creatures abound in the sanctuary provided for them. The gardens are run on natural principles without the use of harmful pesticides, which accounts for the quantity and diversity of creatures present.Of interest are the beautiful indigenous trees, many of which are pruned for their sculptural value.. Although there is space dedicated to a formal vegetable garden under shade net, some of the flower beds include vegetables, sustaining both people and wildlife within the natural garden space.
A visit to this garden includes opportunities to walk on the farm, through the restored grassland and to the dam. There will be conservation gardening talks particularly on grey and rainwater harvesting. Over 800 indigenous plants are available to purchase from the nursery, and the Tea Garden serves great food.
